Common questions

What can I do without paying?+

Pretty much everything — log catches, post and chat, contribute to FishWiki, browse chapters and the marketplace, RSVP to events, see water conditions. The free tier is a complete, useful product.

What's locked behind Angler Pro?+

The 'power user' features — your year-in-fish analytics dashboard, verified catches with EXIF-checked ✓ badge, smart push alerts (buddy logs nearby, watershed thresholds), multi-day trip planning, and expanded marketplace listings. We add to the Pro set over time.

What happens if I cancel?+

You keep Pro access through the end of your billing period, then drop back to the free tier. Nothing is deleted — your catches, photos, posts, and chapter membership all stay.

Can I try it before paying?+

Yes — 30 days free, full Pro access. We don't charge until day 31, and you can cancel before then with no charge. The trial is one per member, so canceling and re-subscribing later goes straight to billing.

What about chapters and tournaments?+

Joining and posting in TU chapters is always free. Hosting a tournament is a one-time $25 publish fee to T&T — your chapter sets the entry fee and keeps 100% of it via Stripe Express; we take 0%. Entering as an angler is free unless your chapter charges its own entry fee, which goes straight to them. Browse live tournaments at troutandtrails.com/tournaments.

How does buying merch fit in?+

The merch shop is separate from Pro — anyone (free or Pro) can buy. Every order helps fund the free community side.
